With the SCT X4 and an individually created Schropp Custom Tune, your Ford Mustang is calibrated to match its engine, transmission, intake system, fuel and existing modifications.
The Custom Tune is not supplied as a universal generic calibration. It is created using the data and configuration of your individual vehicle. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, the transmission calibration is also adjusted in addition to the engine calibration.

- 4.6 V8 3V – 2005–2010 – 95 or 98 RON
- 3.7 V6 – 2011–2014 – 95 or 98 RON
- 5.0 V8 – 2011–2014 – 98 RON only
Calibrated for your vehicle
When ordering, you select the engine, transmission, intake system, fuel and the Tune Option available for your engine. This allows us to prepare the calibration for the actual vehicle configuration.
Vehicles with the factory intake as well as the selectable aftermarket intake systems are supported. If you select “Other – please specify”, we require the manufacturer and exact model of the installed intake system.
For vehicles with more extensive engine-related modifications, please contact us before ordering so that we can confirm whether the configuration can be supported with this Custom Tune.
Automatic transmission
For vehicles with an automatic transmission, the calibration includes adjustments to the transmission as well as the engine. This allows the shift behaviour and interaction between the engine and transmission control systems to be matched to the respective vehicle configuration.
Additional Tune Options
Hotrod Sound – 5.0 V8 only:
If you select the Hotrod Sound option, you receive a second Tune File with Hotrod Sound in addition to the regular Schropp Custom Tune. This gives you both the normal Schropp calibration and the additional sound calibration.
Ford Performance Hot Rod Cams – 4.6 V8 3V only:
If your Mustang already has Ford Performance Hot Rod Cams installed, please select this option. The Schropp Custom Tune will then be calibrated specifically for the modified camshafts.
Return to the previous calibration – Stock File
During the first programming process, the SCT X4 reads the calibration currently installed in the ECU and saves it as the Stock File. This allows the vehicle to be returned to exactly the software calibration that was installed before the first flash.
Important for vehicles that are already tuned:
If a calibration from another tuner is already installed in the ECU during the first flashing process, that calibration is saved as the Stock File. In this case, “Return to Stock” restores the previously installed tune – not automatically the original Ford factory calibration.
If you also want the option of returning the vehicle to its original factory calibration, please specify this when ordering the Custom Tune. We can provide a suitable factory calibration which can be stored on an additional SCT X4 tune slot as a Custom Tune / Stock Tune.
SCT Preloaded Tunes – important information for the first flash
The SCT X4 may initially contain SCT Preloaded Tunes. These generic SCT calibrations are not intended for the respective European vehicle configuration and are not approved for use by us.
Important – never install an SCT Preloaded Tune:
During the first flashing process, SCT Preloaded Tunes may still be selectable on the device. When programming the vehicle, please select only the Schropp Custom Tune created by us.
After the first correct flashing process, the SCT Preloaded Tunes are no longer available for further use. Particular care must therefore be taken during the initial programming process not to select an SCT standard tune by mistake.
Vehicle information required
To create the Custom Tune, we require:
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- ECU Strategy from the SCT X4 “Vehicle Info” menu
- engine-related vehicle modifications
- installed intake system
- selected fuel octane rating
- rear tyre size
- modified final drive ratio, if applicable
If all required information is available before shipping, the Custom Tune can be prepared accordingly. Otherwise, after receiving the SCT X4 you can read the required vehicle information and send it to us. The completed Tune File will then be supplied by email.
Transferring the Custom Tune to the SCT X4
The Custom Tune supplied by email is transferred to the SCT X4 using the free SCT Device Updater. A Windows PC or Windows laptop is required. Instructions for transferring the Tune File and programming the vehicle are supplied by us.
SCT X4 diagnostics and data functions
- read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- display supported live vehicle parameters on the colour display
- record and log vehicle data
- transfer Custom Tune Files to the device using Windows
- return the vehicle to the previously saved software calibration
Please do not update the SCT X4
The SCT X4 is used with the software version required for the application. Updating the device yourself is not required and does not improve either the Schropp Custom Tune or the vehicle calibration.
Please therefore do not perform independent device updates. Unnecessary updates can cause problems with stored Tune Files, the Stock File or the device-to-vehicle pairing.
