The SCT X4 Programmer with an individual Schropp Custom Tune allows the ECU of your Ford Mustang to be calibrated through the OBD-II port. In addition to programming the Custom Tune, the X4 is a practical diagnostic and data-logging tool that can continue to be used in the vehicle after the tune has been installed.
The Schropp Custom Tune is created for the individual vehicle configuration. We take into account factors including engine, transmission and intake system. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, transmission behaviour will also be included in the calibration.
Schropp Custom Tune
Our Custom Tunes are intended for vehicles in standard configuration as well as vehicles with common modifications such as an aftermarket intake / Cold Air Intake. The aim of the calibration is improved throttle response, optimised power delivery and, on automatic vehicles, suitable calibration of the supported transmission management.
For extensive engine modifications or vehicle configurations that differ significantly from standard, please contact us before ordering so that we can confirm whether the required calibration can be covered by this product.
What does the Schropp Custom Tune offer?
Even with the factory intake system, our individual calibration provides a noticeable improvement in performance and driving response.
- 3.7 V6: approx. +25 hp with the factory intake system

For vehicles equipped with an aftermarket intake system or Cold Air Intake, the Custom Tune is calibrated for the specific hardware. The resulting performance depends on the individual vehicle configuration and installed components.
Fuel requirement:
This Schropp Custom Tune is calibrated for Super Plus / minimum 98 RON fuel.
Which intake system is installed?
Please select one of the following options when ordering:
- Factory intake
- Aftermarket intake – please specify manufacturer/type
For an aftermarket system, we need the manufacturer and exact type of the installed intake system to create the correct calibration. Please enter this information in the order comments.
Return to stock – vehicle-specific Stock File
We load the SCT X4 with an original Stock File matched to the vehicle's ECU and software calibration. This allows the vehicle to be returned to its factory software calibration when required.
Important for vehicles that are already tuned:
If the vehicle already has a calibration from another tuner installed when the SCT X4 is used, that calibration is not saved as the Stock File. Using the SCT X4 to return the vehicle to stock will restore the original factory calibration – not the previously installed tune from another provider.
If you want to retain the option of returning the vehicle to a tune previously supplied by another tuner, that calibration or an appropriate method of restoring it must be secured separately with the previous tuner.
Diagnostics and live data
The SCT X4 can also be used independently of the actual flashing process as a practical diagnostic tool:
- read and clear diagnostic trouble codes / DTCs, for example when the check engine light is illuminated
- display supported engine and ECU parameters live on the colour display
- log vehicle data and parameters for later analysis
- data logging in conjunction with a Windows laptop
SCT Preloaded Tunes – important information for the first flash
The SCT X4 may initially contain SCT Preloaded Tunes. These generic SCT calibrations are not intended for the respective European vehicle configuration and are not approved for use by us.
Important – never install an SCT Preloaded Tune:
During the first flashing process, SCT Preloaded Tunes may still be selectable on the device. When programming the vehicle, please select only the Schropp Custom Tune created by us.
After the first correct flashing process, the SCT Preloaded Tunes are no longer available for further use. Particular care must therefore be taken during the initial programming process not to select an SCT standard tune by mistake.
Important – do not update the SCT X4:
The device supplied by us is already on the software version required for its intended application. Updating the X4 after delivery is not necessary and should not be carried out. An update does not improve the Schropp Custom Tune or its functionality. Unnecessary updates may also cause problems with stored Custom Tunes, the Stock File or the assignment of a device that has already been paired with a vehicle.
Custom Tune and vehicle information
To create the individual tune, we require the vehicle's VIN and ECU Strategy together with information about the vehicle configuration.
The ECU Strategy can be read through the SCT X4's Vehicle Info menu. We also require the following information:
- VIN
- vehicle model and engine
- manual or automatic transmission
- installed intake system / Cold Air Intake
- other engine-related vehicle modifications
- rear tyre size
- changed final drive ratio, if applicable
Important information for your order:
Please enter your VIN, vehicle/engine and transmission – manual or automatic – in the order comments.
If you selected “Aftermarket intake”, please also provide the manufacturer and exact type of the installed intake system.
If we receive all required vehicle information before shipping, the Custom Tune can be loaded directly onto the X4 by us. If the calibration has to be created afterwards using the ECU Strategy read from the vehicle, we will send the Custom Tune to you by email.
2021 and later model years: Creating the individual Custom Tune may take several days depending on the vehicle's software version.
Transfer a Custom Tune received by email to the X4
The free SCT Device Updater is required to transfer a Custom Tune supplied by email to the SCT X4. The software runs on Windows only, so a Windows laptop or PC is required.
We include German-language instructions explaining how to transfer the Schropp Custom Tune to the SCT X4.
